ABOUT ME

From a young age, I had an itch to build things, but circumstances prevented me from doing so. I moved forward, becoming the first in my family to attend college and eventually went to medical school. Unlike so many of the people I’ve met along that path, I’ve always kept the DIY spirit, fixing whatever I could in the places I’ve lived or the cars I drove. I did this not only for money savings, but also because there is something deeply gratifying in knowing you were able to make or fix something with your own hands.

As I neared the end of my training as an Emergency Room doctor, I found that I was finally beginning to have some free time to pursue outside hobbies. At the time, I was renting a room in someone’s house, and only had a small part of his garage to store stuff. Still, I wanted to make something. So, I made a workbench, even though I really had no need for it and no good place to keep it.

After my training finished, I moved back to southern California with my wife to start our lives together. We did not have much furniture then, and always had a hard time finding what we wanted. So, I made a few things, and they turned out so much better than I expected. From there, the desire to keep building has grown.

I want to show people that you do not have to have an extensive background or family tradition in building to tackle these projects. Even if your job has nothing to do with being a maker, or doing DIY projects, you can do it. All you need is some patience and determination.
